Durkan asked the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform the extent to which applications for redeployment throughout the public service have been met to date with particular reference to addressing the need for extra staff in areas and Departments most affected by the economic situation; if any assessment has been done to identify the number of requests for redeployment or transfer within or between various branches of the service with emphasis on the extra workload in some sectors while at the same time meeting in so far as possible individual requests for transfers or exchanges within and between Departments; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
