Deputy Éamon Ó Cuív asked the Minister for Health whether he is willing to take up an issue with the Health Service Executive in relation to its medical card processes, following an incident where an application was made (details supplied) in County Mayo to the medical card section of the executive and where, subsequently, on refusal of the application, this Deputy's office contacted the executive with a request for a review on behalf of the applicant, on 18 February 2015, and where, on following up on the matter again, this Deputy was informed that the review request had been received, but that the executive had now closed the file, as further information had not been provided, despite the fact that the executive admitted that it had not requested this information from the applicant or this Deputy's office; where now the executive is seeking a new application, despite its mistake; if he will insist on this decision being reconsidered by the executive; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
