Deputy Fergus O'Dowd asked the Minister for Health if the medical card review mechanism can be amended in order to simplify the review process for persons with lifelong serious illness by using unique identifier coding and by signing off that their circumstances have not changed since the awarding of the medical card in the first instance, in order to simplify, speed up and reduce unnecessary stress on the person and costs in the area; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
