453 Deputy Paul Kehoe asked the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources his plans for the roll-out of high-speed broadband in areas not currently served by broadband, particularly where Eircom exchanges are not digital subscriber line enabled and where there are no plans for the provision of broadband under the national broadband scheme; his further plans to ensure high speed broadband is made available in these rural areas, communities and schools in view of the fact that individuals are being socially and economically disadvantaged as a result of not having access to what is an essential utility in 21st century Ireland; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
