Deputy Seán Crowe asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade if he is aware of the deportation from the United Arab Emirates of a person (details supplied) who was arrested and held overnight before being deported for a human rights investigation for The New York Times in May 2014 which documented how Bangladeshi and Pakistani workers working for Britain's largest construction firm, Balfour Beatty, were beaten, tasered, jailed and deported for going on strike; if he is aware that this person was placed under surveillance before being arrested; and if he has raised this case with the Government of the United Arab Emirates.
