Deputy Éamon Ó Cuív asked the Minister for the Environment; Community and Local Government if, in view of the difficulties in relation to housing members of the Traveller Community and the difficulties that arise at local authority level, any consideration has been given to setting up a national authority to oversee this issue and ultimately have responsibility for traveller housing; if this is been considered will at least half of the members of the board be travellers; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
