Deputy Catherine Murphy asked the Minister for Education and Skills in relation to special needs assistants, if the definition of what constitutes care needs has been changed in circular 0030/2014; if such an alteration in the criteria under which an SNA may be required will lead to a reduction in the numbers of SNAs funded by his Department; if he is satisfied that the definition of care needs set out in the aforementioned circular will cover as many individual child circumstances as is foreseeable and that no child will lose the care they require to access an equal standard of education; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
