Deputy Billy Kelleher asked the Minister for Education and Skills the supports that are being put in place to assist children who due to the changes in the July provision will not be able to secure a teacher this year due to the shortage of qualified teachers in this area; if he will consider a relaxation of this regulation to allow highly qualified special needs assistants to take up the shortfall; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
