Deputy Charlie McConalogue asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if he has raised recently with the Minister for Finance issues regarding the cumulative lifetime cap of €70,000 on the amount of tax relief that can be availed of by young farmers as enacted in the Finance Act 2018; if there are changes foreseen in the applicability of this provision in view of the fact that there is a need to increase the number of young persons choosing farming as their professional career; and if he has raised the relevant state aid agriculture regulation with the European Commission.
