Murphy asked the Minister for Education and Science if it is within the mandate of the NCSE to sanction and provide ongoing in-service training for teaching staff who are directly involved in the provision of teaching services to students with autism or Asperger’s syndrome; if the sanctioning and provision of such training is within the mandate of the NCSE or where this responsibility lies; the criteria which must be satisfied in order for such training to be made available to schools; the application processes in place for schools and staff members who wish to access such training; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
