Deputy Joanna Byrne asked the Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media his plans to bring forward amending legislation to provide for the regularisation and confirmation of the legislative status of the grants of arms made by the Chief Herald's of Ireland between 1 April 1943 and 3 May 2005 when the National Cultural Institutions Act 1997 was commenced, and during which period the State had no legislative authority to grant arms as confirmed by successive Attorneys General; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
