473 Deputy Dan Neville asked the Minister for Health his views that it is unfair and unacceptable that children from the Limerick area have to travel to Dublin to access intensive treatment because the local paediatric diabetes team is under resourced; his further views that the paediatric diabetes service in Dublin has become inundated with referrals, that children with diabetes who should be seen four or five times each year in hospital to help limit damage which high blood sugars can cause to the eyes, kidneys, nerves and smaller blood vessels in adulthood are not seen as often as recommended in view of the fact that the local services have remained under developed and under utilised.
