Deputy Mattie McGrath asked the Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government if local authorities are obliged to comply with the EPA guidelines for wastewater treatment when purchasing a one-off home for their tenants in the open countryside; if local authorities are obliged to ensure the wastewater treatment system of a one-off home is sufficient for the proposed occupancy of the home; the course of action available if the local authority knowingly breaches EPA guidelines; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
