Mitchell asked the Minister for Social and Family Affairs the way in which his Department measures poverty; if his attention has been drawn to or if he takes into consideration relative income poverty, relative deprivation, the combined income-deprivation measure, the budget standard approach, the food ratio method, the social security poverty line and the United Nations poverty index, as outlined recently by the Combat Poverty Agency; if any of these measures of poverty have been used in this State; if so, if he will give the most recent results of such research; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
