38 Deputy Mick Wallace asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government in view of the report published on 25 April last by the Institute of Directors in Ireland which found that insufficient consideration is being given to the skills required when appointments are made to State boards, if he will outline the criteria and process by which new members, including the new chairperson, were selected and appointed to An Bord Pleanála in view of the fact that there is only one architect sitting on the appeals board and no member holds a professional qualification in conservation or urban design; if any of these new members were direct appointments made by him under section 106(1)( e ) of the Planning and Development Act 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
