Durkan asked the Minister for Health arising from overcrowding experienced in the accident and emergency unit in Naas General Hospital in County Kildare over some time, and his subsequent decision to provide for the recruitment of extra appropriate nursing and other staff, the extent to which the requisite staff has been recruited, appointed, and taken up duty; if further staff level increases are required to ensure the smooth, effective and safe operation of the unit at the hospital, in line with best practice; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
