Deputy Clare Daly asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government if he is aware that a raid on a property (details supplied) found 200 dogs, of which the local authority subsequently destroyed 120; if this is an appropriate response under the Dog Breeding Establishment Act; if a more enlightened response to reports of cruelty is needed, particularly from the point of view that those reporting animal cruelty may be prevented from doing so if they believe the animals will be killed; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
