Deputy Brendan Smith asked the Minister for Defence if the 21 year rule for Permanent Defence Force personnel enlisted after 1994 will be reviewed; his views that many of those affected by this rule are very anxious to remain in the Defence Forces as they have the required fitness levels and have gained very valuable experience over the years which will continue to be of assistance in their duties; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
