Deputy Catherine Connolly asked the Minister for Defence if consideration will be given to making the Military Service Allowance pensionable for pre-1990 pensioners in view of the fact that arising from a recommendation made in 1990 by the Gleeson Commission the allowance was made pensionable in the case of personnel retiring on or after 1 August 1990, but was not made pensionable for those who retired before that despite the fact it had been introduced in 1979 in lieu of a pay increase.
