Deputy Duncan Smith asked the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage the purpose and intended operation of the Cost Rental Allocation Plan Regulations 2025; when he intends to commence the provisions enabling cost rental landlords to apply additional allocation criteria under section 31A of the Affordable Housing Act 2021, as inserted by the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2024; and if these regulations will facilitate the introduction of a defined local priority category within cost rental allocations, similar to the priority arrangements permitted under section 8 of the Affordable Housing Act 2021.
