PQ 513
513. Deputy Mary Lou McDonald asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade the location and status of the passport applications in respect of children (details supplied); when the passports will be issued; his views that a process that does not seem to keep track of documentation of such high importance is demonstrably inadequate, especially considering these children are living in fear of violence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as has been disclosed to the Irish Embassy in Pretoria in South Africa; his views that the best interests of the children are not being met by his Department; and further that these children’s rights to enter and reside here are being severely impugned as a result of this inadequate and demonstrably deficient procedural process; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
