Deputy Fergus O'Dowd asked the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment his views that Newry has been earmarked as one of a number of sites being considered for the disposal of nuclear waste as outlined in the white paper of the UK Government; the consultation that has taken place between local authorities in Northern Ireland and County Louth on the matter; if any consultation has taken place between the UK and Irish Governments in respect of the proposal; the steps he will take to ensure this will not take place; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
