Deputy Seamus Healy asked the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation the number of chief executive officers in State and semi-State agencies serving on a first fixed term contract at present; the number of such contracts that will terminate in the next year; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that if such a CEO is reappointed on the basis of a second contract, the person will be entitled to a contract of indefinite duration and if he will therefore insist, that on termination of first contracts, such positions be filled by open competition including interview by an independent board appointed by him which will assess the merits and qualifications of the candidates.
