Deputy Ged Nash asked the Minister for Finance if Ireland has fully and correctly transposed and is enforcing the insurance distribution directive, EU 2016/97, particularly Article 17(1), which obliges member states to ensure that, when carrying out insurance distribution, insurance distributors always act honestly, fairly and professionally in accordance with the best interests of their customers, in view of the Central Bank review of differential pricing in the private care and home insurance markets (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter.
