Deputy Richard Boyd Barrett asked the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science the reason for the dramatically increased required levels of demonstrated financial support to study in Ireland for non-visa required international students (details supplied); the means by which students booked to arrive in July and August can be expected to secure the additional funds at such short notice; to consult with the education sector in line with the Department’s Customer Charter about this change; and to consider delaying implementation of this requirement to minimise uncertainty for incoming students.
