Deputy Willie Penrose asked the Minister for Justice and Equality if he is aware of the serious concerns being expressed by shooting, hunting and sporting interests in relation to the firearms licensing system and the need for an independent licensing system which has its primary focus on the character of the applicant and the safety and security of the citizens arising therefrom; if he has received the submission form the sports coalition dealing with a fundamental review of the system (details supplied) if consideration will be given to opening dialogue with these stakeholders in respect thereof; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
