Deputy Michael Lowry asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine further to Parliamentary Question Nos. 366 and 367 of 30 June 2021, the reason there is no representative from the forestry sector on the CAP Consultative Committee given that afforestation is clearly the largest opportunity in the land use sector to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere; the way the afforestation opportunity in the sequestration of carbon possibly can be delivered upon in the next CAP given the knowledge regarding the last CAP and inter alia the drop in afforestation during the term of GLAS; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
