Deputy Pearse Doherty asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport to outline his views on recent reports that certificates of proficiency awarded to seafarers (details supplied) as part of training provided to offshore workers are not recognised by his Department; if his attention has been drawn to the concerns of trainees over this failure to recognise the accreditation, particularly in respect of the impact this will have on employment in related sectors; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
