PQ 634
634. Deputy Gerald Nash asked the Minister for Defence if he will consider reviewing the upper service limit of 21 years in respect of privates and corporals in the Defence Forces; if he will have regard to PDFORRA's view that a new upper service limit of 50 years of age for such ranks should be introduced instead of the 21 year limit subject to fitness and medical standards; his views on the contention that this approach can deliver savings of approximately €1 million in the first year; if his Department will engage with PDFORRA on these issues; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
