Deputy Marc MacSharry asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if all seizures of horses made under SI 62 of 2016, the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013 and the Control of Horses Act 1996 are included in the national horse seizure statistics figure; if not, his plans to ensure that all horse seizures are included in the national figure in view of the fact that, without the inclusion of same, the national horse figure provided is erroneous; if he will ensure that all of the legislation will be enforced in order to reduce and eliminate continuing and blatant disregard for the law on animal welfare in the State; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
