Durkan asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the number of passport applications that have been requested to be resubmitted by the Passport Office as a direct result of officials in that office being unable to contact Garda stations that are not operating on a 24-hour basis in each of the years 2018 to 2021 and to date in 2022; the policy in place in such instances; if consideration has been given towards updating the process for the logging of Garda signatures for new passports in an online system, as opposed to the current physical book system; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
