Deputy Thomas Pringle asked the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources given that there is approximately 7,400 megawatt capacity of electricity in power stations and that EirGrid has predicted demand will remain more or less the same as levels in 2007, the reason policy is directed towards constructing wind farms to generate 3,000 additional megawatts of energy by 2020; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
