Deputy Clare Daly asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government if he is aware that Sligo County Council has had a deficit in its revenue account in the years 2008 to 2014; if he is further aware that the council’s cumulative deficit now stands at more than €26 million, with long-term debt in excess of €120 million; if he is aware that a majority of the members of the council approved an increase in its overdraft facility to €13.5 million for the 12 month period, April 2015 to 31 March 2016; his plans to sanction the increased overdraft; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
