Deputy David Cullinane asked the Minister for Health whether she will establish standalone or emergency department adjacent urgent mental health care services; the number and details of any such existing facilities; if she has examined a potential model, such as the model which previously operated at St. Brendan's Hospital; if she accepts that often chaotic emergency departments are not an appropriate place for a person experiencing a mental health issue, such as a psychosis related episode or suicidal ideation, to be left waiting unattended and without immediate attention and care; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
