Deputy Colm Burke asked the Minister for Health if consideration would be given by her Department for the inclusion of vape devices (details supplied) in the Public Health (Tobacco Products and Nicotine Inhaling Products) Act 2023, in view that although the devices are marketed as rechargeable and replaceable because of supplementary pods they remain fundamentally environmentally wasteful; are attractive to young consumers owing to their low cost; contain significantly more vape liquid allowing 6,000 puffs compared with 600 puffs in a regular vape; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
