Deputy Luke 'Ming' Flanagan asked the Minister for Health if he will instruct the Health Service Executive to consider providing through the GMS a newer generation of ileostomy pouches which are longer lasting and hence more cost effective; his views on whether the current ileostomy product range available from the HSE is out-dated and that a better selection should be made available to those who have need to use such due to illnesses such as inflammatory bowel disease and cancer; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
