Deputy Patrick O'Donovan asked the Minister for Finance in relation to the local property tax exemption for properties purchased between 1 January 2013 and 31 December 2013, if in a situation where a person purchases a property from their siblings as part of the estate from their late parent - all eight children were left a 1/8th entitlement to the property - and the property becomes the purchaser’s sole or main residence, that person is liable for the property tax as they only purchased 7/8th of the property; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
