Deputy Seán Ó Fearghaíl asked the Minister for Education and Youth in view of the success of the Youthreach Programme since its inception, and having regard to the fact that a small number of students at senior primary and lower second level cannot have their particular needs met in conventional school settings, whether she sees the need for the establishment of a junior Youthreach programme; the strategies her Department have for meeting the needs of such pupils in circumstances where their inability to settle in school gives rise to huge levels of anxiety on the part of the students, their families and the teaching and ancillary staff attempting to work with them; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
