Deputy Noel Grealish asked the Minister for Justice and Equality the number of vehicles that have been seized by An Garda Síochána in each of the years 2013 to 2017 and to date in 2018 nationwide under section 14 of the Waste Management Act 1996; the number in County Galway for the same period belonging to persons caught dumping illegally without a waste permit; the number of persons who have been convicted for these offences under the Act in the past five years; if a unit will be set up in An Garda Síochána to tackle the issue of illegal dumping; if a unit will be set up in each Garda division; if legislation will be strengthened and penalties increased in order to address the problem; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
