Durkan asked the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs the actions being taken to ensure that first-time applicants for the universal subsidy under the national childcare scheme can still apply for the subsidy, notwithstanding the fact that online application via MyGovId appears to be halted due to the unavailability of appointments to obtain the public services card; if an alternative method for application has been established in view of the unavailability of such appointments; if applicants will be backdated from date of eligibility in view of the fact late application may occur through no fault of their own due to the circumstances outlined; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
