Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children if, in view of the current and ongoing conflict of interest within the Health Service Executive, which is contracting beds in nursing homes, has sought tenders from nursing homes to provide care for high dependency patients and which is also the regulator for nursing home standards, she will take immediate steps to ensure that the governance function in regard to inspections has sufficient autonomy, independence and competence; the steps she proposes to take on this matter; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
