Deputy Joe Neville asked the Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration if, arising from his Department’s appearance before the Public Accounts Committee on 23 October 2025, the Department has asked An Garda Síochána to investigate the unauthorised extraction of significant volumes of water from an emergency hydrant to service an IPAS Centre (details supplied) being funded by the Department; whether the extent of the unauthorised extraction and consequent financial loss to the Exchequer has been quantified; whether a prosecution in respect of the unauthorised interference with and extraction of water from the hydrant, including reimbursement of the financial loss to the State, is pending or being pursued; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
