78 Deputy John Deasy asked the Minister for Transport if his attention has been drawn to the fact that a company (details supplied) in County Waterford is unilaterally changing the terms of employment of pilot boatmen in Waterford harbour; his views on the fact that section 39(1) of the Harbours Act 1996 specifically guaranteed that employees of a harbour authority transferring to a port company would not be subject to less beneficial conditions of service or of remuneration; his further views on the fact that section 39(3) of the Harbours Act 1996 further guaranteed that employees of a harbour authority transferring to a port company could not have less favourable conditions in regard to tenure of office; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
