Deputy Michael Healy-Rae asked the Minister for Justice and Equality if a person has a case taken against them by the Director of Public Prosecutions at the request of a member of An Garda Síochána and if following that case the charge against the person was completely dismissed in its entirety and was struck out with no order and the Prohibition of Offenders Act was not involved, in subsequent years when that person seeks Garda vetting would the vetting come back clear, that is, would there be no record of the charge that was made at that time and would the person have a clean record going forward, which obviously would be very important with regard to employment prospects; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
