Deputy Kevin Humphreys asked the Minister for Finance if there has been any analysis of the way a tax on land might be implemented to complement the other taxes on property and provide a funding stream for local authorities; the amount that would be raised for the Exchequer were a charge of €10 per hectare applied to arable or productive land assets, assuming that 4.6 million hectares are in use for agriculture and 750,000 hectares are in forestry; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
