226 Deputy Richard Bruton asked the Minister for Finance his views on whether the Spanish Presidency amendments to the EU alternative investment fund managers directive would have the effect of closing off the European markets and European institutional investors from non-European investment firms; if he supports the Swedish Presidency amendments that deleted the three year moratorium that specified that EU access for non-EU AIF and AIFM would be granted on the basis of adherence to a set of standards to be established by the Committee of European Security Regulators and on the existence of co-operation agreements between the regulatory authorities in the EU and in the third country; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
