160 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the companies, groups or interests with which he has had discussions in the context of the provision of accelerated telecommunications services; the nature, scale and extent of such discussions; if existing competing service providers have been involved; if he anticipates new entrants to the market with a view to improving Ireland’s international position with particular reference to the European league in regard to the provision of broadband and similar services keeping in mind that targets set to date have not been achieved and Ireland’s ever deteriorating position in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
