Deputy Niall Collins asked the Minister for Justice and Equality in view of the report by the Garda of some 1,710 firearms reported stolen in the years 2010 to 2014, the number of shotguns stolen, whereby the shotgun was the only firearm held, that were stored in compliance with Statutory Instrument No. 307 of 2009, Firearms (Secure Accommodation) Regulations 2009, that is, that the shotgun was fitted with a trigger lock and disassembled with each critical component part stored securely and separately; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
