Deputy Joe Carey asked the Minister for Finance the number of cash purchases of housing or other properties which were subject to investigation by the Revenue Commissioners with a view to determining the origin of the cash over the past five years on a per county basis; where it was established that such cash purchases were being made through the proceeds of illegal activities, the action taken by the Revenue Commissioners on a county basis; if investigations will be initiated by the Revenue Commissioners into cash sales of housing or other properties where there is reason to believe that such cash was gained from illegal activities; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
