Deputy Ken O'Flynn asked the Minister for Health further to Parliamentary Question No. 1088 of 19 May 2026, if the HSE will confirm whether it intends to develop a clinical definition of “obesity-related conditions” for measurement purposes; if the healthcare pricing office will expand the ICD-10-AM code set used for this analysis beyond E66.1, E66.2 and E66.9 to capture conditions where obesity is a recognised contributing factor, including Type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and osteoarthritis; and if the introduction of a unique health identifier will be examined as a means of enabling patient-level analysis of obesity-related hospital activity.
